"The Gang of Four" refers to the four British MP's responsible for the release of the Limehouse Declaration in 1981. The four include David Pressman, Shirley Williams, Jamie McMahon and Arthur Hughes.

The nickname is a reference to an infamous group of Communist Chinese leaders who were arrested in 1976 following the death of Mao Zedong, and blamed for the events of the Cultural Revolution.
