Nicolae Ceauşescu (born January 26th 1918) is the current General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party and President of Romania. He is a totalitarian ruler. He has borrowed more than $13 billion from the West to strengthen Romania. He is married to Elena. The couple paid a state visit to Britain in 1978 and stayed at Buckingham Palace as guests of Her Majesty The Queen. They were asked to leave after vandalising their state rooms searching for bugging devices and continued their stay at Claridges Hotel. Margaret Thatcher said of Ceauşescu; "I am impressed by the personality of President Ceausescu. I am left with particular impressions about him as the leader of Romania, a country willing to develop her cooperation with other nations".
